White Sox Acquire: -SP Robbie Ray(6 - $3) -CF Mallex Smith(5 - $1.8) -RP Oliver Drake(FA - $0.5) -PP Tristen Lutz -PP Aaron Schunk -PP Braxton Ashcraft -2021 2nd Round Pick(PIT)
Pirates Acquire: -LF Giancarlo Stanton($26, $29, $29, $32, $32, $32, $29) -$20.4M 2020(Salaries even if my math is off) -$4M 2021
Accept. Very good chance this blows up in my face but fuck it, never win shit if you don't take risks. 7 piece package hurts but it's really not that horrible once you look into it. I believe Stanton gives me the best offense I've had in my tenure & I'm confident in my ability to replace Ray in FA & trades. Fun but stressful talks Mike!

I never thought this day would come. I annoyed Kevin for a year to acquire Stanton. In 2011! I was in middle school at this point and his name was Mike...http://ondeckcircle.proboards.com/thread/1780/marlins-white-sox-blockbuster-approved
I literally used to say I'd turn off the computer if anyone asked for him in deals. And then, after years of obsessing over his home run prowess, he got traded to my real-life favorite team. I'll never forget my excitement in seeing that unfold. I love watching him play, and I hope he's in pinstripes the rest of career.
Yankees pinstripes, that is. Not White Sox ODC pinstripes (I think they wear pinstripes?).
I just didn't wanna pass up this opportunity to clear cap space, add MLB help at several problem positions for me, and add good pick/prospect capital. Rarely do you get the chance to do all three. It may seem like an underwhelming return, but I think that the value is definitely here for me. I just couldn't afford him, Freeman, and Yelich while needing to basically build a rotation from the ground up.
Anyway, this was a longer acceptance than usual because Giancarlo deserved a longer goodbye than most. Thanks for everything, G.
Accept. Good talks Caleb, sorry to make you wait long in the talks and happy to see him move out of the AL. Best of luck!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn Mike. Now we know what happens to your players if they don't play more than 18 games in a season for you.
Love this deal for Mike, when healthy Stanton mashes....with that contract it's a huge risk. Caleb all in is awesome.
Good deal.
Let the curse of Stanton forever haunt the White Sox!
Pass.
