Please understand the new hard cap rules before trying to accumulate cash for MLB free agency this January. With the introduction of the new 140M new future season cap, please bear in mind how much you can spend in contracts beyond the 2018 season. Previously, there was no limit on how much you could spend in future years. With the new 140M hard cap, there will be a salary limit in place which limits teams to going only 30M over the in-season cap in future years. Not only do you need to be under the salary cap to participate in free agency in the current year, but you also need to be under the 140M cap in 2019 and beyond. To help with this I made a new tab on the master roster that calculates everyone's current salary as well as 2 years beyond. This is also calculated on your team pages. So as an example, if you have 50M in free cap space in 2018, but already have a team cost of 120M in 2019, the maximum you can spend on a player if you're giving more than a 1 year deal is 20M due to the 140M 2019 hard cap. You can bid your full 50M on a 1 year deal. Please ask questions if this isn't clear before FA's. I just wanted to get the ramifications of the hard cap out there before people had bids invalidated by it. LINK TO CAP SUMMARY SHEET
