There is some confusion as to the waiver wire and contracts that need to be paid for.
My suggestion:
For developing players (yrs 1-6), if you release 'em, you don't pay any of their salary.
If you release a non-developing player and he is picked up, you pay half and the other team pays half.
If the player goes through waivers and nobody puts in a claim, then you do not reclaim the player, he becomes a Free Agent (that part is already in the rules). In that case, you do not pay anything.

I should add that we don't have a claiming system in place. Until we decide on a claiming system, the waiver wire will be frozen.

it may be good to add a clause where you cant pick that player back up for the remainder of his previous contract. Also not a huge fan of getting off scott free if a player clears waivers. I think you should at least pay half.
