Every Friday of the 2018 year OakInc will be posting the ODC Week in review, summarizing any moves made and notable chat topics for that week.
WEEK 5 (1/26-2/02):
TRADES: Jake made a rare good trade in moving 4.5M and a 4th for Evan Gattis. Gattis will likely be Houston's everyday DH and with C eligibility he could be a top 5-ish catcher with 550 PA's. About time Jake.
OaKinc moved Ivan Nova to patty for Tony Zych. This was mostly a salary dump as Nova was very very bad in the 2nd half of last season, but if he bounces back his contract at 9.5M next year doesn't look as bad.
OakInc moved Mark Trumbo to Houston in a salary dump to make room for Marwin Gonzalez and Jay Bruce. This elevated Elijah to be the most insufferable consistent chat presence since Becks (RIP) wouldn't stop talking about his school WiFI.
BLOCKBUSTER OF THE WEEK(s): The Rays acquired Billy Hamilton and Danny Duffy, and a 2nd for Max Scherzer. Danny Duffy had a weird season last year after suffering a shoulder injury and then the drunk driving incident, but the Royals think of him as their ace and he projects as a top 25-ish SP if he can stay healthy. I am of the opinion that Billy Hamilton is not very valuable in here, but he's also one of the higher perceived value players in here by various owners, so if Forbz flips him it could be a very good value for what he originally paid for Scherzer.
Padres acquired Hunter Renfroe for Raul Mondesi Yandy Diaz and Will Harris. I really like this for Noah. Renfroe too me projects as a 35 HR hitter and I don't think he gave up anything of value for him.
OF FA happened, but i'm saving that for team-by-team review of FA's.
nothing else really happened in week 5.
MAXING OF THE WEEK: no good very bad week of maxings the winner was Kory in a robby scott for 2 3rd round picks trade "I accept. Have no real need and use for Scott right now. So I figured I get a couple picks. Plus I’m not too sure where Scott lines up in the bullpen for the Sox.
" Not very good but it won for week 5.
STANDINGS: Justin-2 Jeff-1 Kevin-1 Kory-1
TEAM/OWNER OF THE WEEK: Noah because none of the outfielder moves i thought were amazing and the Renfroe deal was really good imo. STANDINGS: Noah-2 Psych-1 Elijah-1 Mike-1
HM: Forbz, Jake
WORST TEAM/OWNER OF THE WEEK: I didn't like either of Paul's trades and they were the only big trades of the week. STANDINGS: Paul-1 Forbz-1 Jake-1 Becks (RIP)-1 Matt-1
HM: Oak (salary dumps mean you made previous dumb decisions)
BEEF OF THE WEEK: JT/Brandon because the ringless fuck didn't let me, bryan, and will switch teams.
STANDINGS: Psych-Slaw-1 Psych-Patty-1 Patty-Bryan-2 JT-Brandon-1
Week 5 stunk.
