WEEK 1 REVIEWS
AL SCORES:
The Score: Minnesota Twins (-13.5) defeat Boston Redsox 14-0
Really solid week from Minnesota to start the year as they should against a rebuilding Red Sox team
Matchup MVP: Manny Machado 13/42 4 runs 2 HR 5 RBI 1SB .310 AVG .396 OBP .500 SLG
The Score: Detroit Tigers (-1.5) defeat Kansas City Royals 9-3-2
The middle of the Tigers rotation dominated meanwhile the Royals sluggers Judge, Ramirez, and Buxton let him down.
Matchup MVP: Shin Soo-Choo 13/40 6 runs 3 HR 6 RBI 0 SB .325 AVG .386 OBP .625 SLG
The Score: Chicago White Sox (-4.5) defeat Houston Astros 12-2
Despite a rough week from Stanton, Michael breezes to a dominant victory over Elijah's self proclaimed god squad
Matchup MVP: Freddie Freeman 11/30 10 Runs 2 HR 11 RBI 0 SB .367 AVG .558 OBP .733 SLG
The Score: Baltimore Orioles (-9.5) defeat New York Yankees 13-1
Despite bad weeks from Votto, Duvall, and others the lineup only loses SB and the pitching staff picked up a full sweep over Justin's young staff.
Matchup MVP: Charlie Morton 12 IP 13 K 2-0 2 QS
The Score: Seattle Mariners (-11.5) defeat Los Angeles Angels 13-0-1
Nothing like having arbitrary rules put in place to make a 3 category difference
Matchup MVP: Michael
The Score: Texas Rangers (+2.5) defeat Oakland Athletics 5-8-1
Credit to Bill because he daily managed his lineup perfectly and took every close category, saves, runs, and OBP were all one by one, definitely frustrating to blow a potential double digit start to the season, but injuries will do that.
Matchup MVP: Jean Segura 11/29 6 Runs 0 HR 2 RBI 1 SB .379 AVG .438 OBP .483 SLG
The Score: Toronto Blue Jays (-0.5) tie Tampa Bay Rays 7-7
Shohei Ohtani has 80 grade speed
Matchup MVP: Shohei Ohtani 6/13 4 Runs 3 HR 7 RBI 0 SB (surprising bc he has 80 grade speed) .462 AVG .500 OBP 1.154 SLG 13 IP 18 K 2.08 ERA 0.462 WHIP 2 QS 2-0
NL SCORES:
The Score: San Francisco Giants (-2.5) defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 7-6-1
Both of these teams had really solid weeks. 11 saves is fucking crazy, and the Diamondbacks lack of bullpen (2-0 loss in holds) ends up keeping him from a week 1 victory. a 1 decimal point difference was huge for the Giants in the ERA column (3.17-3.18). Runs, HR, RBI, ERA, QS, HOLDS were all decided by 2 points(?) or less.
Matchup MVP: Max Scherzer 11 IP 17 K 1.64 ERA 1.27 WHIP 1 QS 1-1
The Score: Cincinnati Reds (-14) defeat Colorado Rockies 14-0
Fuck you Alex for not dropping Asuaje 3 days earlier when you should have.
Matchup MVP: Andrelton Simmons 15/42 7 Runs 0 HR 7 RBI 0 SB .357 AVG .372 OBP .405 SLG
The Score: Los Angeles Dodgers (-3.5) defeat Cleveland Indians 7-6-1
Dodgers sneak out with a win despite just 2 HR in 237 AB's to start the season. Psych's rotation was amazing with Patrick Corbin and Jaime Garcia throwing four great starts for his staff.
Matchup MVP: Dansby Swanson 13/34 5 Runs 1 HR 7 RBI 1 SB .382 AVG .400 OBP .618 SLG
The Score: New York Mets (-4.5) defeat Atlanta Braves 12-2
Woods lineup doesn't show up as despite really bad weeks from Braun, Chris Davis, and Carlos Santana Jack fairly easily sweeps the hitting categories in a surprisingly dominant (credit for him calling it) week 1 victory.
Matchup MVP: Kenyan Middleton 4.2 IP 3 K 1 SV 1 HLD 0.00 ERA
The Score: Miami Marlins (-11.5) defeat Philadelphia Phillies 12-0-2
Division leaders Miami Marlins come a save and win away from a full sweep to start the season. Ratios could've been interesting if Khanz would call up his fucking players
Matchup MVP: Lucas Giolito 1 QS
The Score:
Pittsburgh Pirates (-1.5) defeat Chicago Cubs 9-5
Gary Sanchez, Rougned Odor, and Anthony Rizzo going a combined 5-for-70 at the plate killed Slaw's ratios and gave Caleb a victory to start the attempt at a repeat from last years title win.
Matchup MVP: AJ Pollock 12/35 7 Runs 1 HR 6 RBI 3 SB .343 AVG .425 OBP .657 SLG
The Score:
San Diego Padres (-1.5) defeat Washington Nationals 10-4
Bryan's lineup cooled off and Noah took advantage sweeping the hitting categories, Bryans pitching was solid as he won both the bullpen and the pitching ratios. 14 HR and 8 SB are going to be fairly impossible to beat most weeks.
Matchup MVP: Dee Gordon 11/30 4 Runs 1 HR 3 RBI 3 SB .367 AVG .406 OBP .467 SLG
The Score: St. Louis Cardinals (-2.5) defeat Milwaukee Brewers 12-1-1
Bryce Harper is very good and Nick benching Matt Davidson on his 3 HR game hurt him as he lost HR by exactly 3.
Matchup MVP: Bryce Harper 10/28 10 R 6 HR 12 RBI 1 SB .357 AVG .535 OBP 1.000 SLG
WEEK 2 PREVIEWS:
AL:
Baltimore Orioles (13-1) Vs. Atlanta Braves (2-12)
The Line: Orioles -11.5
The Orioles are the best team in here and should dominate with Joey Votto due for a huge week after a bad week 1.
Chicago White Sox (12-2) Vs. Minnesota Twins (14-0)
The Line: White Sox -2.5
These are two of the top teams in AL and should make for an entertaining game, ultimately I think Mike's lineup is a bit better and just one start weeks for Kershaw and Fulmer make Mike the small favorite in this one.
Cleveland Indians (6-7-1) Vs. Detroit Tigers (9-3-2)
The Line: Tigers -5
Both teams coming off impressive week 1's. I think Tigers depth will be a bit too much for Psych's team, but wouldn't be surprised is Psych keeps it close.
Houston Astros (2-12) Vs. Texas Rangers (8-5-1)
The Line: Astros -3
Bill's team is very deep and after a really good week 1 despite a not great hitting performance, I could see a week 2 performance that keeps it close. Ultimately I think Elijah's stars come through and get him his first win of the season.
Oakland Athletics (5-8-1) Vs. Los Angeles Angels (0-13-1)
The Line: OaKInC -14
Tampa Bay Rays (7-7) Vs. Boston Red Sox (0-14)
The Line: Rays-14
Same for both teams getting 1 of each stat will be enough with new AB/IP Minimums
Seattle Mariners (13-0-1) Vs. Kansas City Royals (3-9-2)
The Line: Royals -1
Natty's entire lineup is due after a tough week 1 and could lead to a sweep if all his guys rebound.
Toronto Blue Jays (7-7) Vs. New York Yankees (1-13)
The Line: Yankees -2
Matt Chapman was the only guy on Justin's roster to show up last week and I think Ohtani cools down a bit and guys like Happ and Shaw heat up and lead to a win for Justin
NL:
Chicago Cubs (5-9) Vs. Cincinnati Reds (14-0)
The Line: Cubs -2.5
Slaw's lineup will heat up and despite punting saves, I think his staff will give him enough to pick up a fairly easy win over Cody's team.
Los Angeles Dodgers (7-6-1) Vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (6-7-1)
The Line: Diamondbacks -5.5
I think Jakes team sucks.
Miami Marlins (12-0-2) Vs. New York Mets (12-2)
The Line: Mets -9.5
I think Jack was right his team slick might be really good. Marlins have some pieces, but will need to win every ratio to keep this one interesting.
Pittsburgh Pirates (9-5) Vs. Milwaukee Brewers (1-12-1)
The Line: Pirates -9.5
Calebs team is just a lot more talented than Nicks. Paul Goldschmidt heating up could make things interesting.
St.Louis Cardinals (12-1-1) Vs. Colorado Rockies (0-14)
The Line: Cardinals -13.5
Matt is gonna start the season with two huge wins and my lowkey wildcard pick is making noise.
Washington Nationals (4-10) Vs. Philadelphia Phillies (0-12-2)
The Line: Nationals -14
Good comeback chance after the tough loss to Noah to start the season.
San Francisco Giants (7-6-1) Vs. San Diego Padres (10-4)
The Line: Giants -1
These teams are both very good and should be in the playoffs by seasons end. It will likely come down too who's bullpen and secondary starters can outdo the other teams.
Good luck Week 2
