Aight, can someone help us with comp picks.
I know Justin Verlander was a comp A, but not sure about anybody else and how to assign picks.

Type A:
Ranked 1-15 SP in the previous season Ranked 1-30 Batter in the previous season
Type B:
Ranked 16-45 SP in the previous season Ranked 31-75 Batter in the previous season Ranked 1-15 RP in the previous season
If the player is not resigned by his former team and is a Type A or Type B free agent, appropriate compensation is awarded to the player's former team. Teams that lose Type A free agents are compensated with a pick following the first round of the following year's amateur draft. Teams that lose Type B free agents are compensated with a pick following the second round of the following year's amateur draft. The draft order of the compensation rounds is ordered according to their ranking in the Player Rater.
These compensation picks may be traded at any time after the player is signed.
In order to earn compensation, the team must own the player through the regular season trading deadline.

Nolan Arenado should not get a comp pick because he was re-signed by PIT
Bryce Harper should not get a comp pick because he was acquired on August 1, 2018

Going by Fantrax Score, as we should be since this is the platform we now use, comp pick eligible players are:
Comp A: Max Scherzer - 100.00 Justin Verlander - 97.17 Gerrit Cole - 92.73
Nolan Arenado - 88.23 Re-signed by 2018 team
Bryce Harper - 88.18 Acquired mid-season
Comp B:
Patrick Corbin - 87.86 Acquired mid-season
J.A. Happ - 87.55 Re-signed by 2018 team Clayton Kershaw - 82.41
Adam Ottavino - 80.20 Acquired mid-season
Julio Teheran - 79.55 Acquired mid-season Scooter Gennett - 79.09 Masahiro Tanaka - 78.71 Didi Gregorius - 78.58 Michael Brantley - 78.55 Anthony Rendon - 78.17 Andrew McCutchen - 76.54 Aaron Hicks - 75.92 Nick Markakis - 74.62 Marcell Ozuna - 74.41 David Robertson - 70.54 Craig Kimbrel* - 68.86
*Note: For pitchers with RP eligibility, Craig Kimbrel was ranked #17 but he was below Ross Stripling and Carlos Martinez, who had > 50% of their appearances as SP, so they were removed; therefore, Kimbrel was the #15 RP and eligible for compensation
**********************************
So based on this, the picks given out should be:
Pick 1.31 --> Athletics (for M.Scherzer) Pick 1.32 --> Pirates (for J.Verlander) Pick 1.33 --> Nationals (for G.Cole)
Pick 2.31 --> Twins (for C.Kershaw) Pick 2.32 --> Astros (for S.Gennett) Pick 2.33 --> White Sox (for M.Tanaka) Pick 2.34 --> Diamondbacks (for D.Gregorius) Pick 2.35 --> Mariners (for M.Brantley) Pick 2.36 --> Diamondbacks (for A.Rendon) Pick 2.37 --> Diamondbacks (for A.McCutchen) Pick 2.38 --> Cubs (for A.Hicks) Pick 2.39 --> Mariners (for N.Markakis) Pick 2.40 --> Athletics (for M.Ozuna) Pick 2.41 --> Orioles (for D.Robertson) Pick 2.42 --> Orioles (for C.Kimbrel)
**********************************
I think this is right, again based on Fantrax Score. Let me know if anything is off.

I don't think Kimbrel should have a comp pick. You can't just arbitrarily remove guys in front of him. CMart and Stripling were SP, but also RP. It's possible to be both.

Guys shouldn’t qualify as both. So, as we do with the scale, I went with wherever they had more appearances. Don’t quite think it’s fair for guys to be double counted

Why shouldn't guys qualify as both? If a batter qualifies at LF and RF are we suddenly not going to count them in the RF rankings if they played 60 games in LF and 40 in RF?
And for the record, they are RP. Just because they may have started more games, doesn't make them not a RP too. They're not being double counted either. That'd be like if Stripling appeared twice on the top 75 pitchers list.

That'd be like if Stripling appeared twice on the top 75 pitchers list. You’re comparing apples and oranges. We judge hitters for comp picks as a whole group. And yes they are being double counted if they count as SP and RP... that’s what double counting is. If a guy appeared as a top 45 SP and a top 15 RP would he get two comp picks? Remember - a player rater/Fantrax score is based on overall performance (so Carlos Martinez’s score is combined for him as a SP and RP, which is why he rates out as a top 15 RP). And how do we determine which year of eligibility to use? For example, Brad Peacock had SP elig last year but not for 2019 - so would he qualify as a SP for comp purposes or not (since he had the SP elig during the season in which he earned the pick). Ok maybe the hitting analogy was off but I stand by the fact players can be both RP and SP. If they appear on both T45 and T15 leaderboards, they get one pick. That's pretty obvious. And of course, the SP/RP are going to grade higher than regular 'ol RP because of their innings totals. But I still see no reason to exclude them because they got more IP. That's a slippery slope towards saying anyone that has started a game is no longer a RP. Where's the line? Anywhere you set it is going to be arbitrary. What about Ryne Stanek? He was a SP mainly even though he was really getting RP innings. This opens up a whole can of worms when the simple solution is not arbitrarily cutting players out to move others up.

When I determined these I think I went by more appearances. But it's really minutiae
