Day 2 of the ALCS/NLCS: Detroit takes a commanding lead over the Angels. While the offensive categories are close, the Angles are far behind in the pitching categories with no starters going tonight. The Cardinals are off to a great start taking 12 of the 14 categories but it remains extremely close in this matchup. Matt suffered a huge loss last night with Yelich going down for the season and it'll be interesting to see if Matt has someone to fill in for Yelich the rest of the way.

Day 3 of the ALCS/NLCS While all the categories remain close, Alex is ahead 10-4. Both teams are having a good week and this matchup should come down to the wire. While the offensive categories are close, Matt has a solid lead on most of the pitching categories. Noah will need his team to perform over the next 4 days to take the lead from Matt.

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers face off in the 2019 ODC World Series for a two week matchup. Lets take a quick look at their teams.
Offense
C STL: Tucker Barnhart DET: Wilson Ramos Edge: DET - Ramos has put up great numbers this year and is currently a top 5 catcher.
1B STL: Matt Olson DET: Pete Alonso Edge: DET - Alonso has put together a historic rookie season and has been a primary reason for DET's success this year.
2B STL: Izzie Albies DET: David Fletcher Edge: STL - Albies has been great his year showing pop, speed and hitting for contact.
SS STL: Marcus Semien DET: Trevor Story Edge: DET - Stoy has been healthy this year and thus very prodcutive.
3B STL: Nolan Arenado DET: Wil Myers Edge: STL - Arenado has been great this year, leading STL's team in RBI, HR and SLG.
LF STL: Ronald Acuna Jr. DET: Shin-soo Choo Edge: STL - Acuna has been great, not much else to say.
CF STL: Ketel Marte DET: Charlie Blackmon Edge: STL - Crazy to think Ketel Marte would be more valuable in CF than Charlie Blackmon. Marte is another reason for STL's success this year.
RF STL: Jarrod Dyson (RIP Yelich) DET: George Springer Edge: DET - STL lost a top 3 player in Yelich, which will force Matt to find OF production from his depth.
UTIL STL: Eric Sogard/Adam Duvall/Jose Osuna (6 different positions) DET: Victor Caratini/Ji-Man Choi/Brett Gardner (4 different positions) Edge: DET - They have the UTIL depth and between the three guys above the cover 4 different positions, including C.
Starting Pitching
STL: Jose Berrios, Steven Matz, Danny Duffy, John Gant, Mike Minor, Zach Pleasac DET: Jacob deGrom, Justin Verlander, Madison Bumgarner, Jake Odorizzi, Jon Lester, Anibal Sanchez Edge: DET - With a fantastic 1/2/3 that leads a great rotation, DET will be hard to beat. Could Anibal Sanchez finally get a ring??
Relief Pitching
STL: Sean Doolittle, Will Harris, Andrew Miller, Craig Stammen, Rowan Wick DET: Matt Barnes, Tyler Clippard, Jake Diekman, Rafael Montero, Brakd Wieck, Jerry Belvins Edge: STL - Considering DET had <10 total saves on the year compared to DET's 60+ saves, STL should be able to easily grab the Saves category and then focus on Holds where he had about 120 for the year compared to DET's ~84.
Should be a great World Series, good luck to both teams and may health be ever in your favor.

Day 1 of the ODC World Series. Lets take a look at the scores: Matt is off to an early lead, having a solid day from his pitchers. Picking up an early QS/W and two Holds is a nice way to start out this matchup. Although Alex's pitching is better he'll need his starters to grab some of those categories to makeup some ground. Ramos will be held out a few games during this matchup because of Thor's finger pointing but luckily for Alex he can sub in Victor Caratini at the catcher spot. With 13 days left of this matchup, it'll be interesting to see which team can stay hot and during this enduring two weeks.

Day 2 of the ODC World Series. Lets take a look at the scores: Matt still holding on to the lead despite his 5.71 ERA. This is an extremely close matchup and will surely come down to the last few days. Alex should be able to make up some ground on the pitching categories with 4 starters going tonight. Injuries are already hitting Matt's team with Ketel Marte leaving the game due to back pain, he's not scheduled to play today.

Day 3 of the ODC World Series. Lets take a look at the scores: Alex is clawing his way back and has managed to get back to .500. His offense has come alive as well as his pitching and looks to keep it rolling over the next 10+ days.

We're at the halfway point of the ODC World Series. Lets take a look at the scores: Detroit is off to a nice start offensively with R, HR and RBI but is currently losing all the slash categories. With another full weak to go and with Matt's Ketel Marte being shut down for the season, Alex has plenty of time to take back the rest of the offensive categories. Pitching is still a toss up with only the Holds category being the most our of reach. Having another full weak should bring the pitching categories down to the wire and should help swing the overall matchup to one side.

Day 8 of the ODC World Series. Lets take a look at the scores: Oh boy! Tied up at 6. With Alex holding down R, HR, RBI and K's and Matt locking down Holds, it's going to take the full week to decide a winner. No doubt injuries have taken a big toll on both sides, we'll see who has the deeper bench in the end to get the job done.

Day 9 of the ODC World Series. Lets take a look at the scores: Alex is crushing HR, RBI and K's while Matt leads AVG and Holds comfortably. Everything else is pretty close and there's still plenty of time left to decide the winner.

Day 10 of the ODC World Series. Lets take a look at the scores: Matt is slowly making up some ground on Runs but so far HR, RBI, K's and QS are getting close to out of reach. If he can sneak a few SB's, walks, clean innings and a couple wins he can easily swing this matchup in his favor. We'll be sure to test each of Alex's players for performance enhancing drugs after the completion of the World Series since he's more than doubled Matt's HR total. Alex and Matt both have (5) scheduled starts remaining which could help swing ERA/WHIP and Wins, which could dictate who takes home the crown. It's been a close matchup so far with neither team pulling too far ahead.

Day 11 of the ODC World Series. Lets take a look at the scores: Matt is slowly fading away like Eli Manning's career. He still has sometime to makeup Runs, OBP, SLG, WHIP and possibly Wins to take the title but it will be a monstrous feat. Alex's team has been chugging away since opening day, running threw his opponents with ease and so far it looks like its continuing in this World Series. With 125 K's in 108.2 IP and 18 HR's so far, his team is doing both well on both sides of the ball. Could this year be the year the AL brings the title back from the dreaded and boring NL?? In 3 days we'll have that answer, stay tuned.

Day 14, end of the ODC World Series. Congratulations to the Detroit Tigers on their 2019 World Series win! It was a close matchup but Detroit managed to stay ahead consistently for the final week to bring the WS trophy back to the AL. Lets take a look at the final scores: Big. Meat. Pete. With 6 HR's, 12 Run's and 11 RBI's in this WS matchup, I'd say it's safe to say he's the WS MVP. Alex seemed to have the depth at all positions and got some clutch hitting from his lower level guys like Gardner and Choo. With solid performances from his stars (Blackmon, Story, Springer) offensively and pitching (deGrom, Lester, Odorizzi, Verlander and Sanchez), Alex never really fell behind after the first few days. The only really poor WS performer was surprisingly, Madison Bumgarner who had a 6.75 ERA and 1.583 WHIP. Matt's team fought valiantly while overcoming huge injuries in Yelich, Marte and Acuna. If all three of those players are healthy during this matchup, the offense categories would be a lot closer (excuse #1). His depth helped him stay in this matchup but ultimately he couldn't overcome Alex's hot offense and solid pitching. Congrats again to Alex and Matt on a well played season, they made this WS matchup fun to watch.
