We are now a week away from that special time a year when odc gms get together for trade talks like gentlemen, when forbz and jeff argue who will finish 3rd in the ALE this year and of course profanity laced bidding at the 23 hour and 59 minute mark happens yes im talking ODC's version of cutthroat Island ODC Free Agency! Let's examine this year's prizes:
1) RF Mookie Betts- Clear cut #1 for me given age (just turned 27) a career .301 hitter at this point could be argued he hasnt hit his prime yet.
How much is he gonna get? Probably wont see any Bryce Harper contracts this year (41m per) but 5yrs 30m-35m is what i see being needed to land Betts.
Where is he going? SF has the most $ and has been rather silent this off-season think hes waiting on his moment to strike.
Other possibilities
LAA made a deep playoff Run also has the means and then some to get him
AZ Hemmons may be ready to compete again Betts would help
TB Forbz is crazy i could see him going all in on Betts
ATL Wood's kids are mostly up fairly cheap roster i can see him spending future $ to get Betts
2) SP Justin Verlander- If Verlander was 2-3 years younger hed be #1 on this list if he was Betts Age he might get 40 or 50m in here. Hes going to HOF i have little doubt even at 37 hes gonna be great again in 2020. Buy with confidence just maybe not 5 years.
How much is he gonna get? I can see 25m per hes an ACE. 3 years may be the deal breaker on him.
Where is he gonna go? LAA just makes sense 3 years 25m per
ARZ Hemmons could use Verly
3) SP Chris Sale- Will be 31 as the season begins 2019 was a less than stellar season for sale era over 4 but still had over 200ks (7th season in a row over 200ks) and a career for IP. Is his arm finally falling off? Buyer be ware!
How much is he gonna get? I can see 20m per he's been super consistent pretty much an ACE up until last year. Go ahead give him 5 years!

4) CF/RF George Springer- Turned 30 end of 2019 coming off a career year .292 39 96 would look good in any lineup.
How much is he gonna get? 20m probably gets the job done

5) LHP MADISON BUMGARNER- Much like Sale hes pretty much been the picture of consistency for most of the last decade with 2019 being the outlier. Won't turn 31 until midseason do u gamble on the past or accept hes no longer 200ip 200k sub 3 era stud that he has been 17-20m per should do the trick.
ATL 5 YRS 18M PER
6) DH NELSON CRUZ- Sorta the Verlander of this years Bat class gets better with age consistent if nothing else hitting no fewer than 37 hrs in the last 6 seasons. DH only hurts him slightly who's willing to go 2 years may win Cruz.
TB 2 YRS 15M PER
7) SS JAVIER BAEZ- One of the youngest players in Free agency has strung together a few solid seasons now and much like Betts maybe just entering his prime.
TEX 5 YRS 15M PER
8) SS MARCUS SEMIEN- Last season was statistically better than Baez but hes older and hasnt been consistent like Baez.
SF 5 YRS 13M PER
9) LHP JAMES PAXTON- Hes 31? Older than Sale and Bumgarner? I've always been a huge fan of his talent he just cant seem to put it together whether it be injury or whatever. Last season was only the 2nd time he eclipsed 150 ip mark in his career.
PIT 5 YRS 11M PER
10)RF NICHOLAS CASTELLANOS- He sort feels like the Paxton of the hitter crop in terms of hes sorta underachieved in his career. Hes had a couple good seasons question is...is he mehh tigers Castellanos or Cubs Castellanos who tore the cover off the ball.
ARZ 5 YRS 11M PER
11)RHP TREVOR BAUER- Was a disaster with the Reds after being dealt midseason but has put together a few good seasons of the following few SP he has highest ceiling.
12)RHP JAKE ODORIZZI- Has always flirted with that #2-#3 fantasy sp slot i think hes good for a few more k's than stroman similar era within .5 of a run either way.
13)RHP MARCUS STROMAN- Could he flourish in the NL? Was actually better in AL but wasn't the disaster Bauer was after coming over. Barring injury i think hes gonna be a 200ip 160k SP sub 4 era sp.
14) DH EDWIN ENCARNACION- He's sorta Cruz light most of the same power 8 seasons in a row of 32 or more HRS but most of it with a sub .250 ba avg. I dub thee RH Adam Dunn
15) CL RAISEL IGLESIAS- He's the only bonafide CL in FA 2019 wasnt his best season but still had 30 svs.
