UP
Zac Veen OF (9) - I'm shocked that Veen fell to 9, but this is a high end outcome for a guy with potential 70 grade raw power down the road. Coors will be a launching pad for him, and given his approach, swing, I think he'll mash his way through the minors in hitter friendly confines. I think he ends up being a top 15 prospect in a couple years.
Emerson Hancock SP (6) - The Mariners are now renowned for increasing velocity and getting the most out of their pitchers. That's good, because Hancock had some stamina/velo concerns this year, and fixing that will make this selection look very good. You combine that with a 70 grade changeup and great feel for his craft, you might have a potential #2 starter down the road.
Austin Hendricks OF (12) - Hendricks has the kind of electric power you want from an elite HS OF bat, and now that he'll be in GABP? Fantastic outcome. He reminds of Jay Bruce, and will produce some 40 HR seasons at his peak if he hits enough.
Ed Howard SS (16) - Chicago kid gets to star for Chicago's best team (Sorry, CWS). The CHC have no viable SS prospects in their farm (well, maybe Crisitian Hernandez, but he's 16), and Howard will have a clear pathway to playing there once this current Cubs team ages. The Cubs develop hitters well; this is a great outcome for both parties.
Nick Yorke 2B (17) - Okay, this is def a reach, but reading about the comments from management after last night, it's clear the Red Sox FO loves him more than the industry. And by any definition, Yorke can really, really hit. No, I don't think he's a fantasy first round talent, but Chaim Bloom has had a history of taking bat first middle IF and succeeding with them, and Yorke is in the same mold. He reminds me of Aaron Bracho. Excellent feel to hit, average pop, body is maxed out, 2b profile. There's some similarities here with Jeter Downs, who the Sox also acquired recently.
Jordan Walker 3B/1B (21) - Cardinals devil magic. The Cards took a similar falling power HS corner bat a couple years ago in Nolan Gorman, and they do it again here with Walker. Look, I get why some don't like him. He's big and goofy at 3B, meaning he's probably a 1B, but he's got electric hands and a big frame that generates 70 grade raw power. He's a cerebral kid with great makeup, and hey, if any team is gonna make him a star, its gonna be the Cardinals.
Nick Bitsko SP (24) - The Rays are a perfect fit for Bitsko, who has the advanced analytics to become a frontline ace. I really couldn't be happier for him here. He's a guy who I think deserves a top 15 selection in our fantasy draft, and that's something I almost never say for HS RHPs.
Austin Wells 1B (28)- He got picked by the Yankees. Do i have to say more?
Bobby Miller SP (29) - He got picked by the Dodgers. Do i have to say more?
Justin Lange SP (34) - Elite arm strengh, athlete with intense work ethic. Now, the Padres, who do an excellent job of developing guys like this, get a hand on him. The ceiling here is monstrous, but there's a ton of work to do.
