Hello All,
We have been discussing implementing some new rules for the 2022 season and have decided on the below rule changes that will take effect at the start of the 2022 season (#4 will start at the beginning of the 2021 season). The goal of these rule changes are to improve league competitiveness, to mimic MLB salaries closer and to deter full on tanking. We feel these rules address those areas and will help the league keep the competitive edge that makes it good. We are always working to improve the league and we will be discussing other potential rule changes going forward.
*Some of these rules can or will be tweaked*
1. All pre-scale ARB players (1's, 2's, 3's) salaries will be $500K per year.
2. Prospects will be based on a cost structure at the start of the 2022 season:
<50 Prospects - free
51-75 Prospects - $10M/annually
76-100 Prospects - $15M/annually
101-125 Prospects - $25M/annually
126-150 - $35M/annually
151+ Prospects - $50M/annually
3. Arbitration Salaries will change to match real life salaries, this system will be developed in the upcoming months. A players previous year ARB salary is the lowest it can be for the next year regardless if they played a game or not.
4. Weekly AB/IP minimums will be increased and fully enforced for the 2021. They'll now be 75 AB's and 15 IP for the first 8 weeks of the season (June 1st end date). Failing to meet these minimums will result in the below penalties:
1st time: warning
2nd time: loss of the follow years 5th round draft pick
3rd time: loss of the following years 3rd round draft pick
4th time: loss of the following years 1st round draft pick
5th time: expulsion from the league
5. Competitive Franchise Boost - teams with winning percentages will receive a financial cash boost for the following year, structured below:
.500 - .575: $2M
.576 - .625: $3M
.626 - .699: $4M
>.700 - $5M
Reminder: The 2022 and on draft order is going back to worst -> best record.
Thank you.
