To make this league feel even more like a real simulation of the majors, I thought adding a defense catgory or two (errors, assitsts, etc.) along with the current offense catagories for the 2013 season would be a good idea, as well as beneficial to those players who excell defensively, but not so much on offense. I don't think that errors/assists properly evaluate a player's defensive capabilities. Nevertheless, it would add a cool dimension to the league.

Mike- then which defensive stats (that are available for use in leagues on ESPN) would you wanna use?

I am against this too, don't think it is should be a category. It would require adding a minimum of 3 to make all positions score-able, and would then severely decrease defensive value

We have in the past kicked around the idea of adding some defensive categories and I'm just not sure enough people like the idea to make it happen...
Personally I'd be up for it in the right circumstances I think it deffinately brings a element to the league that could be beneficial. We can't go overboard with it and it'd have to be the right statistics.

im against to be honest... i dont really like defense categories in the way that SSs have 100x more assists then some other positions, plus teams havent built for defensive teams it puts some at a disadvantage

Defensive categories are stupid. If you do POs, then 1Bs become very valuable. If you do Assists, SSs become more valuable. It just doesn't seem right...

Not gonna happen. There's simply not an effective enough stat for measuring how good of a defender a player really is.
