The Blue Jays are reportedly very close to working out a trade with an unknown team where they will deal star hitter Nick Markakis.
According to a source close to the team, "It's basically a done deal, the only thing left to work out is who will pay Nick's plane ticket. Look for the deal to be made public in the next day or two."

Tigers GM Alex Stern acknowledges that the Tigers have sent the Blue Jays an offer for Markakis in a last minute attempt to acquire him before being dealt elsewhere.

The White Sox have been rumored as a possible suitor of Markakis. Even considering their need for hitting, GM Michael Terilli denies that he is interested in the outfielder.
"It's not happening," he simply stated.

The Dbacks have been interested in Nick Markakis but they cant seem to find a deal, the manager said they were close but they just stopped talking about him. Nick Smucker says "He wants him to come to Arizona but it wont happen".

The Blue Jays GM denied that there had been any trade talks with either the White Sox or the Diamondbacks. He did release a statement saying that the Blue Jays were deciding between 2 offers and a decision should be reached by Sunday night. He declined to say who the 2 teams were.
