All DP players signed post-Brandon McCarthy were be paid as lump sums paid in full last season, and then the following season(s) will be paid solely what the year 1-6 scale dictates. This was all already determined though and the real purpose of this post is to impose what happens for DP players signed pre-McCarthy.
All DP players signed pre-McCarthy were treated as normal FA's to be bid on. Here is what Mike and I have decided to implement:
-You will pay the player's yearly salary this season, and then next year, the player's will move to the 1-6 scale for salary. This year is to act as sort of a transition year.
-The amount of years on these player's contracts will be thrown out. They will simply adopt the year that they should be on the 1-6 scale.
We are still deciding what to do with free agent DP's moving forward. We may just stick with lump sum bidding. Feel free to chime in if you have any opinions.
