Last year I mad a trade with the Reds to acquire Joel Hanrahan : Dbacks Trade: Jason Kubel 1M (2014)
Reds Trade: Joel Hanrahan 1.2M (5) Greg Dobbs- 1M thru 13'
I was then told by Bill (texas) that he was really 1.2(6) and that I would lose him to free agency, Reds aquired him from Nationals (Bryan): Reds Send- SP Bronson Arroyo (7M 12')(7M 13') 2B Darwin Barney .5 (2) Reds agree to pay Arroyos contract in 12 and 13'
Nats Send- RP Joel Hanrahan 1.2M (5) C Chun Hsi Chen (Indians Prospect)
Based on this i feel i should recieve some type of compensation for losing a year on Hanrahan that I was to believe he still had remaining, as he posted 36 saves/67 K's/2.72 over 59.2 IP, thank you...

Not every mistake can be blamed on the LM (I can't even say who checked the roster). It appears as though Astros owes compensation (unless that trade is from 2011).

It seems that these slip-ups are common here. For that reason, I'm not sure if you will get compensation, because that could turn into a mess with many more compensations.

You can discuss with Astros to see what he is willing to give you as compensation. If you two cannot reach an agreement Mike and I will decide what is appropriate.
In the future though, it's also your responsibility to check your players contracts before making trades.

In the future though, it's also your responsibility to check your players contracts before making trades. Why should I give comp? I entered the league with Hanrahan on my roster, then traded him. I had absolutely no clue as to his contract status and went along with what the old owner had posted because we didn't have a true Masterlist. I do fell Kev should get comp from the team that originally had a bad contract with Hanrahan, or maybe from Bryan. But certainly not from me Max
