With the news that Doumit will not play C full time, the Angels are in hunt for a new catcher. The Angels GM expressed in a statement yesterday that the catcher doesn't have to be all-star material, but a guy that gets a good amount of starts.
The Angels GM also said he expects Doumit to get some playing time and will not trade for a catcher who is just a liability to the team. Doumit will still get a good amount of starts, but having a full time catcher to play when Doumit can't would be very nice.
The Angels are not going to overpay, as they still do have Doumit, but are looking to trade a decent prospect for a decent catcher.
