It's fairly easy to call the Chicago White Sox the most controversial franchise in the majors. This point was only re-emphasized late last week, when White Sox General Manager Michael Terilli called Oakland about center fielder Michael Brantley.
Athletics GM Rich Patrick responded, saying that Brantley didn't want to be shipped to Chicago and the circus that surrounds it.
Other players have complained about Chicago's turmoiled team. Earlier this offseason, star outfielder Ryan Braun was shipped out to Miami after requests to be traded.
"Hey man, some guys just aren't built for the limelight," Terilli commented about players and their complaints. "I don't want a bunch of whining babies out on the field. I need players that wear cups, not diapers."
Some players love the spotlight. New right fielder Mike Stanton, who came to Chicago in the Braun deal, said, "It's more fun playing like this. Every home run, every strikeout, every play is magnified here. And I love it."
