Note first 11 picks is all done right now doing rest asap.
Ondeck Circle 2014 Draft
Pick Number | Team | Player | Reason |
st | Carlos Rodon | Not many holes on the Pirates in the farm system but they could use a starter and what's better tha 6'3 lefty.
nd | Tyler Kolek | No need at all for a offensive player especially a catcher so the Cubs will be more than likely drafting a pitcher and right now Kolek is probably the best choice.
rd | Sean Newcomb | This pick could very well go number 2 he is drawing many comparisons to Jon Lester so should be a great pitcher.
th | Touki Toussaint | Touki could very well drop a couple of picks but as of right now I think the Pirates will take him one to stock up on pitching and they are not rushing anything right now so are in a good situation to take a high school arm.
th | Alex Jackson | The Dodgers could go anywhere with this pick but the power Alex Jackson brings makes me think the Dodgers will take him.
th | Trea Turner | Seems to be the best college bat and the Giants may look at 2016 for contending which is when Turner will be called up if he stays healthy and produces.
th | Michael Cederoth | He is 6'6 touches 100 think thats enough to say and is another great arm for the Pirates.
th | Jacob Gatewood | Could very well be a top 5 pick he is probably the best High School bat in the draft right now. Which might spark interest from the Giants and Dodgers.
th | Jeff Hoffman | After taking a hitter with there firt pick the Dodgers should look at the pitching side and if Hoffman is still here they should snatch the 97 MPH RHP.
th | Kel Johnson | Starting to get to the nitty gritty most of these picks could fall out of the first round but right now Johnson who has a very strong OF bat seems to be a player the Pirates will take to contend in 2015.
th | Braxton Davidson | The pitching for the Rockies fares better than the offense and there is no way I see them taking a college player here mainly because they have no need to rush anyone as the NL West should be there's for the next 3 years and by that time Davidson will be up to continue the run.
th | Aaron Nola | The teams offense looks to be in good shape with Yasiel so they could use a starter and Nola might be the guy.
th | Brady Aiken | After taking 2 straight hitters I figure that the Pirates will go back to the pitching side and what a way to start with Brady.
th | Jack Flaherty | A big power bat that could end up playing 3B or OF both of the spots is what the Angels are looking for.
th | Luke Weaver | Reminds me a little bit of Jered Weaver, he has a fastball that hits the low 90's and post a low era with a great KK/BB ratio. The kid could end up going in the top 10 if he signs with a MLB team
h | Justin Smith | With the offense being by far the biggest need for the Brewers there is no way they will pass up a bat like Smith.
th | Kyle Schwarber | Many sites have him listed as a C/1B but the way he is built and he is power he will be playing 1B for the majority of his career and the Indians could really use a 1B for the future.
th | Michael Cederoth | After going with a bat it is unlikely that the Indians do it again so they should look at a 6'6 righty in Cederoth.
th | Micahel Gettys | I doubt the Royals keep this pick but if they do they should be looking in a High School starting pitcher rather than a college player and Gettys having a great size and great command over his pitches could be a nice fit.
th | Justin Bellinge | 6'6 240 and is a exceptionally well pitcher and a great hitter and is only 17 this pick will be a steal for the Mariners if he falls.
st | Derek Hill | Small skinny kid that has speed and contact and great defense. Could be a rather quick call up that the Cubs would want in the late rounds.
nd | Liam Sabino | I doubt the Indians keep Drew by the time Liam gets the call and it should be sooner than later as he is a great defensive SS that will post a good average.
rd | Chris Ellis | A tall linky RHP that should get a rather quick call up which is what the Cubs might be looking for.
th | Michael Conforto | A great corner outfielder that the Twins could use along side Puig but the downside to Conforto is he is not always consistent.
th | Grant Hockin | Being a grandson of Harmon Killebrew is always a nice start and then with the Twins really needing pitching is another thing that will get you drafted in the 1st Round.
th | Mike Papi | Not really good enough arms for the Mariners to want to take one since the offense is a bigger need and Papi is a .400 hitter and a great power bat with amazing defense. Should be a quick call up.
th | Joey Pankake | A power bat a SS might be going earlier than this but for right now will leave him at number 27 going to Washington who could use a power SS.
th | Zach Shannon | My guess is that the Royals will take the best talent avaiable with this pick and Shannon seems to be the guy he has a great arm that can reach 93 but is more known for his bat and his school that produced Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Larkin, and Buddy Bell.
th | Gareth Morgan | A college bat that is said to have all the tools and has raw talent just needs to refine it. Reminds me of Aaron Hicks so could be 4 years before he gets the call which is something the A's may want.
th | Bryce Montes De Oca | 6'8 265 a very big kid thats hit 97 seems to be more of a reliever but should dominate in that roll for quite some time. |
