New Ideas~
Trade Deadline- The trade deadline currently is when the playoffs start. Proposing that there is one between July 31st and the playoffs. Propose the new Deadline should be around August 10th-18th it would be around a 2 week break from trading.
International Free Agents- Certain IFA's are playing as 25 year old rookies which is a loop whole in the system. This is just a idea but something like this could be nice to have.
IFA's under 22- Can abide by the same rules we currently have for IFA's
IFA's over 22- Either treated as real free agents or use a system.
System Example:
First System-
Example Nats sign Yu Darvish for 28.2 mil they would then have to pay him 28.2 for the 1st year and the get contract that the Rangers signed him to.
Second System-
Number 1 ranked IFA- Would get paid what ever the number one is and 8-10 per; however long the general manager wants him for.
Number 2 ranked- Would get paid what ever the number one is and 6-9 per; however long the general manager wants him for.
This system would have some flaws but is more of an example of what could be done.
Waiver Wire- If we use the MLB traded deadline here are Waiver Wire rules we can use.
Other teams have the chance to make a claim on the player during a 48-hour window.
Any player can be put on waivers by his team, and the player does not need to be informed.
Other teams have the chance to make a claim on the player during a 48-hour window.
If the player is claimed, the team that placed him on waivers has the option of pulling him back. If the team pulls him back they can't trade him for 30 days.
If his team decides not to pull him back:
Option 1: His team can work out a trade with the team that claimed him. Any player involved in the trade who is on a 40-man roster must go through waivers first.
Option 2: His team can just dump him and his salary on the team that claimed him, getting no player in return.
Option 3: No one claims him, and his team is free to trade him to any team.
If more than one team places a claim on a player, the winning claim is awarded based on waiver wire order.
Hometown Discount- Currently if a team trades for a free agent they would get there 5% discount. Rule needds removed or adjusted. Also if you decline a players option you should not be eligible to get the hometown discount.
