2014 ODC TOP 25
[/img]
# ODC TEAM
1 2B ROBINSON CANO- Many will say Clayton Kershaw is the #1 FA but Cano is the undisputed 2B champion of the world. SP class is deep and the overall talent pool at 2B isn't, making Cano a rare diamond and VERY valuable commodity.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $35 Floor $28 WINNER:
In the Mix:
2 LHP CLAYTON KERSHAW- One of the best SP in baseball bar none. He's had teams drooling at the thought that he'd hit Free agency for months and after another CY Young caliber season it's hard to figure out why. Will be entering the 2014 season at age 26 is the best still yet to come? Either way he will command top dollar in Free agency.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $40 Floor $25 WINNER:
In the Mix:
3 RHP MAX SCHERZER- "Cyborg" as i like to call him helped lead the Rays to the AL pennant falling just short of the ODC championship after posting a Cy Young caliber season. He hasn't been dominant as long as Kershaw but his 2013 season will lead to a payday similar on the open market.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $30 Floor $20 WINNER:
In the Mix:
4 1B CHRIS DAVIS- "Crush" Davis really lived up to that nickname in 2013 slugging 58 homeruns. Finally lived up to and exceeded the hype after years and years of being called the next great power hitter. Can he do it again? and the team that shells out the money for him will have to believe he can duplicate his 2013 season because he will be paid like he can.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $35 Floor $20 WINNER:
In the Mix:
5 CF JACOBY ELLSBURY- Had a healthy and productive season in 2013 stealing 50+ bases. The power he displayed a few season may never return but he's a still a very valuable and elite CF. I have a feeling though when he starts to slow down his value will follow.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $23 Floor $15 WINNER:
In the Mix:
* Has yet to be posted
6 *RHP MASAHIRO TANAKA- One of the bigger names on the International free agent front, he reminds some scouts of another Japanese import Yu Darvish. Only 24 so his peak years are ahead but International players can be a big hit or a big miss nonetheless i expect Tanaka to command a lot of Yen.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $20 Floor $12 WINNER:
In the Mix:
7 1B JOSE ABREU- The best bat on the International free agent market, scouts have compared him to Kendry Morales but with less plate discipline but more power. He pretty much limited to 1B so he's not quite the player many expect to come out of Cuba with Puig and Cespedes defecting in recent year being athletic OF's. The 1B market overall is a mixed bag but with some depth so his price could be limited by that factor and that he's relatively unknown outside of Cuba.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $15 Floor $7 WINNER:
In the Mix:
8 C BRIAN MCCANN- Coming off a down year that was plagued by injuries he still managed to hit 20 homeruns. McCann might be starting to break down but he's still one of the better offensive catchers in baseball so id expect him to get a contract reflecting that.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $17 Floor $9 WINNER:
In the Mix:
9 RHP JUSTIN MASTERSON- Masterson had a career year at the right time and entering the 2014 season at age 29 only helps his value on the free agent market. Being younger than the majority of the arms on the market and after nearly breaking the 200 strike out barrier i expect him to do well on the open market.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $20 Floor $12 WINNER:
In the Mix:
10 3B CHASE HEADLEY- Similar to McCann, Headley is coming off a down year but that shouldn't hurt his FA stock too much. 3B is such a position of demand i can see Headley getting a contract that exceeded his 2013 numbers. 2012 was also a career year if memory serves me correctly so somewhere in between those two years may be where his value is.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $17 Floor $10 WINNER:
In the Mix:
11 RF NELSON CRUZ- Cruz is generally a solid bat in RF when healthy but after last season his real talent has to come into question after receiving a 50 game suspension for PED use in July. The suspension may cap how much he receives in FA and i expect teams to bid cautiously on him.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $12 Floor $7
12 RHP AJ BURNETT- Will he stay or will he call in a career? AJ has been solid the last 2 seasons borderline ace but as he gets older will he fade also there is the question if he retires or not this off season which is a popular rumor. I see teams still offering him a contract despite retirement rumors.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $11 Floor $6
13 CF CURTIS GRANDERSON- Missed a large chunk of 2013 due to injury but when he returned he looked like the slugging CF he's turned into the last few seasons low AVG and all. The market will determine how big of a contract he gets but i don't expect his injury plagued 2013 to be a issue for most
PREDICTION: Ceiling $12 Floor $7.5
14 RHP HIROKI KURODA- Kuroda is straight out of Dazed and Confused he gets older and he keeps putting up the same useful numbers. Will enter 2014 at the ripe old age of 39 but that wont scary many teams away from this solid SP.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $9 Floor $6
15 INF ALEXANDER GUERRERO- Guerrero another Cuban import on the list come with the reputation of have raw power and the possibility of sticking at 2B or SS defensively. He's unknown but the risk might be worth the reward due to the Middle infield market being practically bare.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $11 Floor $6
16 RHP MIGUEL ALFREDO GONZALEZ- Is one of the more interesting arms available has many useful pitches that he can throw for strikes and can seemingly make the transition the the majors fairly quickly.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $12 Floor $6
17 RHP RICKY NOLASCO- Another season and another solid performance out of Mr.Nolasco. He's not going to K 200 batters or Win 20 games OR probably have a sub 3.00 ERA but he's solid all that u can say.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $8 Floor $5
18 RF MARLON BYRD- Mr. Byrd Marlon if you're nasty...had a career resurgence in 2013. He was picked up on waivers early in the season which made the season he had even sweeter for the teams he was on. Former PED user question will be was he clean? and can he do it again in 2014?
PREDICTION: Ceiling $8 Floor $5
19 1B BRANDON MOSS- Picked a good year to have a career year. After all the years he spent bouncing around the league him finding a home at 1b was all he needed? Time will tell if 2013 was a fluke or moss is a for real high 20's low 30's power hitting 1B.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $9 Floor $6
20 CL JIM JOHNSON- He's a closer and he's been on of the better ones over the last few seasons. With 50 saves in 2013 and teams needing svs he should be in demand.
PREDICTION: Ceiling $8 Floor $4.5
21 RHP TIM LINCECUM
PREDICTION: Ceiling $17 Floor $10
22 SS JHONNY PERALTA
PREDICTION: Ceiling $17 Floor $10
23 2B AARON HILL
PREDICTION: Ceiling $17 Floor $10
24 LF RAJAI DAVIS
PREDICTION: Ceiling $17 Floor $10
25 CL GRANT BALFOUR
CL FERNANDO RODNEY
PREDICTION: Ceiling $17 Floor $10
