We are back with more news from Washington Inside News (WIN). The Washington Nationals currently sit in 6th place in the National League trailing the New York Mets by 13 games for the division lead and the Los Angeles Dodgers by 11.5 games in the 2nd Wildcard. They would likely gain anywhere from 4-5 games on both teams after this week making a fine race for the 2nd half of the season.
Washington has been asked to bring back the Magic Number that worked so well in the 2011 regular season when the Nationals finished 7th in the National League. The team is in much better shape however this year being nearly 20 games closer to a race. The Nationals are in talks with 3-4 teams still in trade talks about possible upgrades to increase the chances of finally getting a playoff birth, under the old and new general manager Bryan Webb. So here it is the Magic Number for the Washington Nationals! MAGIC NUMBER 92 Games

You can't have a magic number when you're not winning the division

With 9 weeks left and the Nationals only 75 Wins away from making the post-season for the second straight season. The Washington Nationals must win on average 8.3 games these last 9 weeks to reach there goal. They expect to win 39-43 games over the next 4 weeks to make there goal that much easier. They have the Cardinals up next, followed by the Reds, Giants, Braves. The Magic Number is now just 75 Games

This still makes no sense what happens if the teams ahead of you win 75 games too?

Explain your logic Bryan. Is this for wild card?

This is for making the playoffs and I took the most likely situation which is getting the 2nd wilcard and winning 75 games will do it for sure. The Dodgers are up by 1.5 games and will not get more than 70 wins to end the season and then Phillies trail and have a okay schedule but even with 80 wins which is hard to get and unlikely they will not pass my team being 5.5 games back.

Magic Number is still well alive for playoff birth and seems to be 100% accurate, of course I made it. 43 Games

In this case does "inside news" mean the things that you should be thinking "inside" your head, but continue to spew out to the public instead?

The Magic Number is making a comeback with the team just slightly over .500. At the end of May, the Nationals Magic Number is 113 games
