The San Diego Padres have acquired reliever Steve Geltz from the waiver wire. The 27-year old struck out fourteen batters in 8.1 innings pitched, while posting a 3.24 ERA. Geltz will make $300,000 dollars and slot into the San Diego bullpen. The move brings the Padres to 29th on the waiver wire order.
The Padres have made several free agent offers... shocking many who were not close to the club's direction. The team appears to have two top targets, and is rumored to be in the lead for outfielder Colby Rasmus.
