2012 NL East Power Rankings |
National League 2012 Predictions | Place |
Miami Marlins | 1st |
Philladelphia Phillies | 2nd |
New York Mets | 3rd |
Atlanta Braves | 4th |
Washington Nationals | 5th |
Team Name | Offensive Comments | Pitching Comments | Farm Comments |
Atlanta Braves | Offense like the rest of the team over went a major over haul in the off-season some would argue unnecessary over haul. The offense is highly paid but talented Miguel Cabrera, Josh Hamilton, Curtis Granderson, Andre Either and BJ Upton lead the charge. Could be one of the better offense but could also easily see it being derailed by injuries. |
Miami MarlinsOffense is VERY talented but one of their cornerstones Ryan Braun faces a potential 50 game suspension for a alleged PED violation. If the suspension is upheld the offense could still hold there own with OF Justin Upton, 2B Ian Kinsler, 3B Pablo Sandoval, 1B Ike Davis and potential Rookie of the Year candidate CF Mike Trout all in the line up still.Johnny Cueto, Ricky Romero and Francisco Lirano lead the rotation. Relief Pitching Closer Brian Wilson is pretty much like the song says “all by his self”.There are a few nice spects in the Marlins system C/DH Ryan Lavarnaway could help this year and 2B Roughned Odor and 1B Dan Vogelbach could help in a few years. Iv’e seen worse systems.

New York MetsPrince is KING! Of New York. The Mets made a big splash in free agency signing prized free agent 1B Prince Fielder and he steps right in as their main source of offense. The rest of the cupboard isn’t bare though another new comer 3B David Wright and OF Jose Tabata and 2B Danny Espinosa should give prince some support.A1-4 is young and very talented. Dan Hudson, Micheal Pineda, Cory Leubke and Jon Niese lead a very talented staff. Im not sure there is a clear #1 starter here but Hudson and Pineda are close enough. Looks to be one of the more talented staffs in the league. Relief Pitching- Brandon League and Javy Guerra give the mets a nice bullpen.Has some nice depth most of the talent is in the pitching department Harvey, Norris, Lee, Wheeler, Vizcaino. The rest of AL East the will need to invest in arms!

Philladelphia PhilliesNeil Walker, Kevin Youklis, Martin Prado and Jayson Werth lead the way. 1-9 not a bad lineup but I think it could really use some star power, one bat to lead the way.1-5 is a very solid rotation. Not sure there is a #1 there but Marcum is close. Madison Bumgarner and Vance Worley are very talented young starters. Tim Hudson and Roy “show me the money” Oswalt provide veteran leadership. Relief Pitching- Craig Kimbrel who was exiled from Atlanta leads a strong pen that also include Sean Marshall and Fernando Salas.Led by UBER! Prospect Manny Machado the phillies have a nice farm system. Lindor,Jackson, Colvin and Cosart could all be contributors at some point.

Washington NationalsJJ Hardy, Pedro “Mr.Green energy” Alvarez and the corpse of Grady Sizemore lead the way in DC. There are some other useful parts like Infante and Ramos but don’t think they make the impact needed to compete.#1 Ubaldo eh, #2 AJ Burnett ah #3Matusz? #4? #5. The Rumored Yu Darvish signing could help here. Relief Pitching Broxton and Rodney head up a mediocre bunch. The names to know here are Bubba Starling and Archie Bradley.

American League East 2012 Summary |
The Marlins I believe have the inside track in 2012 perhaps beyond very young and talented team across the board. Could use a staff ace though. 2nd and 3rd…..could easily be flip flopped. I put PHI at 2 feel they had more depth than the Metropolitans I count neither out if Marlins falter for any reason. Braves….not balance enough to compete currently have a very good offense that will get the job done a lot of weeks. Nats will be a team to be reckoned with in the future I believe just not enough right there to be a factor this year. |
