Hello, everyone welcome to the end of the greatest fantasy baseball league in history! The On-Deck Circle has just wrapped up its fifth season, yes, its fifth. The league of many personalities, trades, insane free agent signings, sacks, raps (copyrighted), and fights.
Oh, yes, we have fights. How do you start a fight in a fantasy baseball league? Well that is simple you see, my favorite way of starting a fight, is simply saying "You guys wanna start a fight?", that is just the typical way. Most people in this league prefer to laugh at others for the trades they make or the way there roster looks. The worst insult you can get is being called a sack, the gang no one wants in.
Now time for the history of the league a little further. Starting with the playoffs, congratulations to the Arizona Diamondbacks and there owner Jason Hemmons. This is also the first season ever, that a previous World Series winner made the post-season, that being the Chicago Cubs (Greg Habil). Nine teams have yet to make the post-season and they are the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants.
The league has seen many owners and many we will remember even if it was for a short time like that of Palehose or a long time like: Jordan, Andrew, Owen, and Rich. However, the core group of owners, the last couple of years has continued to stay with the league such as: Michael, Greg, Sanders, Jimmy, Matt, Jason, Kevin, Paul, JT, Max, Oren, Wood, Russi, Bill, Alex, Zack, and Jeff. Without these owners staying together for so long this league would have folded back in the baseballdynasty0 days. The league at one point struggled to see if Jose Bautista was owned, now we know who owns Bobby Doran.
Many more adjustments to the league have been made, over the span of its duration. The league added an extra wildcard, which helped the Chicago Cubs make the playoffs. It also changed the horrendous background it used to have only the core know this struggle. Another struggle with this league was the old chat, when only 10 people were able to join the chat at one time.
The down part of this league is the age of the people in it. Many owners be like "I'd like to take you out for a few drinks, but I'm a miner." The age can be fun with the jokes of Thomas' mom or even hearing the older people talk about how the game used to played and how much fantasy baseball has changed over the years.
Still after five years, no team has won two titles. So what does that mean for the 25 of us? The chances are much greater, with the past results. A team that has been the favorite two years in a row, surprisingly, did not win the World Series or even make it. What team is that? The Detroit Tigers, who were the Arizona Diamondbacks but better in that time. We have had a Cinderella story in our short league existence. This Cinderella team was the New York Yankees, a bloody mess of a team then but still managed to win the coveted On-Deck Circle championship. Much like professional baseball, On-Deck Circle baseball does have a Chicago Cubs team that will not win in 107 years or more. That team is the Seattle Mariners, who have yet to even manage a 100 win season.
Unbreakable records? We have those, mainly from the St. Louis Cardinals who own the single season record for team wins with 219. No team has even got within 14 wins from this record. Another record that seems to be unbreakable would be the Miami Marlins team home runs, which is set at 233. They actually broke there own record of 215. If any team would break this record, it would be the Miami Marlins themselves. As they have the most and second most for this category.
The league of many switches. No, not that type of switch, Jack. The switch in which teams move, similar to the Pirates and Cubs and Cardinals switching. Or the most famous and most controversial switch, the switch between the Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Reds, A's, Royals. The switch that made zero sense. It was the year the Padres were going to contend but sadly the team had to sell again, when the soon to be 2015 World Series champions moved in. We all learned that switches like these are no good for the league.
That about wraps up the league but still a lot of unsaid goes on in this great league. It is a league where you love to talk to everyone but also wonder why you are even talking to them.
Here is to a great sixth season at the old On-Deck Circle league!
