2012 NL Central Power Rankings |
National League 2012 Predictions | Place |
Houston Astros | 1st |
Milwaukee Brewers | 2nd |
Cincinnati Reds | 3rd |
St.Louis Cardinals | 4th |
Chicago Cubs | 5th |
Pittsburgh Pirates | 6th |
Team Name | Offensive Comments | Pitching Comments | Farm Comments |
Houston Astros | Led by 3B Aramis Ramirez, CF Andrew McCutchen and C Miguel Montero the Astros are a very solid offense. Could really use a SUPERSTAR to lead the way but 1-9 very solid. |

Cincinnati RedsBeyond A-Gon a fairly light hitting weak offense is in place. Gardner and Bourjous should provide plenty of speed though.Justin Verlander leads a pretty good rotation that also included Josh Beckett and Chad Billingsley and potential wildcard Aroldis Chapman. Relief Pitching beyond Evan Meek and Eric O’Flarhety not much there. Not a lot of elite talent here but Grandal and Boxberger should get their call to the show soon.
Chicago CubsOffense- A lot rests on Paul Goldschmidt’s shoulders in his sophomore season hopefully RF Allen Craig and 3B Chase Headley can add something because beyond those 3 offense will be hard to come by in Wrigley this season.this leaves a lot to be desired. Relief Pitching Boggs and Coke have cool names. The Cubs have a very deep system that is headlined by talent such as C Devin Mesoraco, 3B Nolan Arenado, SP Jarrod Parker and crown jewel of the system SS Jurickson Porfar.

Pittsburgh PiratesQuestion marks galore here. First is why sign Manny Ramirez? SMH! Escobar, Morel and Reimold are the core…..SERIOUSLY? Pirates Management took some risks that could payoff by bringing in Chris Davis, Matt Laporta and Travis Snider if one of them turns it around could payoff for the Pirates long term. Zambrano and Pelfrey OH almost forgot Zach Duke that would have been a huge void…..Relief pitching Steve Cishek Rachel Phelps herself would be jealous of that piece of young and cheap talent. This is where the team is investing right now Gerrit Cole, Carlos Martinez, Gary Sanchez and Miguel Sano should form a nice core in about 3 years. Hopefully they still have fans left then.

Milwaukee BrewersTex, Stubbs and Posey lead the way for the Brew crew on offense. Brandon Belt will have a shot at making a difference this year as well. If Jeff Francouer can repeat his 2011 numbers they could be a very good offense.Cole “Don’t ask for a loan” Hamels and Yovani Gallardo form a 1-2 punch that most teams would envy but beyond them the rotation is a question mark. Relief Pitching Joakim is the closer beyond him nothing to write home about..Not top notch talent here or a lot of depth but there are some names to keep an eye on Peralta, Gennett, Mejia and Arcia.

St.Louis CardinalsBrian McCann and Corey Hart (and his sunglasses) lead the way on offense. Justin Morneau could also be a big part of the offense if he is over his concussion issues. Brandon Beachy, Jair Jurrjens and Derek Holland are at the top of a young a talented rotation. Relief Pitching Farnsworth, Peralta and Rauch man a ok bullpen.SP Jameson Taillon and RF BRYCE HARPER! Is all the cards need here 2 very talented prospects to give the Cards a bright future.

National League Central 2012 Summary |
NL Central could have one of the more interesting races in 2012 as many as 4 teams could win I think. Houston gets the nod as the early season favorite due to their very sold line up and good rotation and bullpen. Brewers fell just short line up is close and rotation is a starter off and a closer short. Reds needs to add some thump and a closer rotation is perhaps just as good as HOU. The Cards are the dark horse here could sneak into contention. Cubs are in the process of rebuilding and the Pirates are on the ground floor of their rebuild. |
